Might & Magic Heroes, initially known as Heroes of Might and Magic, is a fantasy strategy series conceived by Jon Van Caneghem under New World Computing. Launched in 1995, the franchise centers on turn-based battles where players command legendary creatures in tactical warfare. Ownership shifted when New World Computing was purchased by 3DO, later moving to Ubisoft after 3DO’s dissolution. The original studio closed following *Heroes of Might and Magic IV*, with subsequent titles managed by external teams under Ubisoft’s oversight. *Heroes V* was produced by Nival Interactive, while *Heroes VI* was spearheaded by Black Hole Entertainment before Limbic Entertainment handled updates and expansions, including *Shades of Darkness* by Virtuos. Limbic also led development on *Heroes VII*, released in 2015, continuing the series’ legacy of intricate fantasy world-building and strategic combat.
